APRIL IS COMING TO TOWN!!!
<<------ we were little then. 19?? april is a year younger so she was 18. this was when brooke was going through her mohawk phase and i, after getting into a fight with a certain vegetarian, wore fur coats a lot. i miss the pink house and its parties....sometimes... -------------------------------------------------------------------- my sister called to tell me that our mom thinks she is a slut. her reasoning was that mom walked into leslie's room and said 'don't get the gardisil shot. i mean, if you are sexually promiscuous ANDTHEREISNOTHINGWRONGWITHTHAT, maybe we should talk about your options. but gardisil might kill you.' another time my mom had a similar conversation with les was when my mom was typing something into google and 'how to know if you are pregnant' came up on the logs. she sat my sister down and said, 'are you pregnant? you just need to tell me so we can do something about it. it's okay if you are but i just need to know so we can handle this.' my mom has never had these types conversations with me (not that i have a problem with that...nevernude, remember?). in fifth grade (or was it fourth), kids at my elementary school started to have 'sex class'. i honestly don't remember anything about it or what we learned except for being very embarrassed when our teacher asked if anyone knew what sperm was and i shouted out 'A WHALE!!!'. i reported the mistake to my mom that night and she went to the nearest christian bookstore (in olathe, of course!) and bought me a book. she tossed it to me and said 'let me know if you have any questions'. i remember that the book had very crude drawings of male and female anatomy. i definitely knew what everything looked like. the rest of the book was about making the decision to have sex. all of the stories were testimonials from those who waited until they were married to have sex or born-again virgins (GOD WHY DID I HAVE SEX BEFORE I WAS READY, WHY??????!!?!?!). i learned nothing and had many questions, but knew that my dad would avoid the situation and my mom would tell me that i would understand when it was 'time for me to understand'. i thought that sex was when a woman stood in front of a man and he rubbed his penis in between her legs...UNTIL I WAS 15! it wasn't until i started hanging out with theatre kids that i finally learned. my sister reported that her 'sex talk' happened one night when my mom and my sister were watching friends. she can't remember but she thinks its some episode where ross and rachel get drunk and sleep with each other on accident. my mom turned to leslie and said, 'don't do that'....and that was the extent of her talk. leslie says that she learned about sex on her own because she had 'really, REALLY dirty friends' (probably also theatre kids). by the way, no matter what people think about athletes/cheerleaders after watching movies like varsity blues and american pie, the sluttiest kids in high schools are always:
1) band kids
2) theatre kids
it's the truth.
