two stories in the news that are relevant in my life, both in australia.

#1: shark found in swimming pool. this is just awesome to me because i have this recurring dream that my first grade teacher pushes me into a pool of sharks, and one of them bites my head off but i can still see everything going on around me. also, i used to always think that below the vent at the deep end of the pool (where the diving boards were) was a pool of sharks and if you didn't get out of the deep end in time, the lifeguards would release the sharks. i had a vivid imagination, okay? it was probably a side effect of being super allergic to the chlorine and not understanding why i'd get insanely sick every time i went schwimming.

#2: world's oldest blogger died saturday. i've been reading olive riley's blog for a year or so, i think i found her on daily awesome or something. she was 108 years old and toally precious. two of her friends helped her set up the blog (or 'blob' as she called it once) and they would converse or she would recall some of her life experiences. i really enjoyed that. it reminded me a little of krapp's last tape. last year i bought an old tape recorder after reading the play and i really want to start recording a tape of the past year's occurrences every year on my birthday. i also want to record my grandparents at some point. THANGS I NEED TO DO.

RIP OLIVE RILEY! thank you for being a wonderful blogger!

here's a video of olive singing 'waltzing matilda':
